Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
Jurisdiction of City vs. County
I received a traffic violation in my city of Buffalo Grove which is located in Cook County and Lake County. The incident happened in Cook County but the Court date is set in Lake County. I'm assuming the cop has the right to give me a ticket since he's a Buffao Grove cop, but when I go to court, does the Judge have jurisdiction to rule over my traffic violation since he is for Lake County? Please advise. Thanks!

Re: Jurisdiction of City vs. County
Your case should be assigned to Cook County, if in fact the traffic violation happened in Cook.
