Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
license ''revoked'' for fake ID
In July of this year, 4 friends and I were at a bar in Chicago. Three of us had entered the bar(using fake IDs), but the 4th was stopped by the Illinois Secretary of State for presenting a fake ID. We all left the bar and were standing outside when the officer asked us to see our IDs, we gave them to him, and fully cooperated. We were let off on a warning for the criminal part, but since it was the Secretary of State, our licenses are suspended for a year. Was this legal for the officer to do since we were not in the bar, and how can we get restricted driving permits for summer jobs?

Re: license ''revoked'' for fake ID
You can apply for an RDP at the office of the SOS. But the REAL question is whether or not you were afforded a due process hearing. No one can revoke or suspend a DL without affording you a hearing. Period.
