Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

I live in the state of Illinois. After making a legal left hand turn I was pulled over by a patrol car and issued a citation for failure to wear a seat belt. I pointed out to the officer that my seat belt was on and was told that I probably put it on before he approached my car. What are my options?

Your options are as follows:

1. pay the ticket and have a non-moving conviction on your driving history

2. go to court and negotiate supervision which will not affect your driving history

3. take your case to trial - worst case scenario you'll get supervision (depending on your past driving record), best case you beat the case.

By beating the case you preserve your driving record and avoid paying fines and fees. Having an attorney is your best chance of beating the case. So you need to decide, do you want to spend the money on an attorney and protect your driving record or spend the money on fines and fees while taking a hit to your driving record.
