Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Mixed information on my ticket

If an officer gave me a speeding ticket, but didn't bother to collect the correct information about the driver, can it be dismissed. He has the wrong liscens number, birthdate, eye color, height, and some more. The only thing he has right is the name, and i had to correct him on that.

Re: Mixed information on my ticket

Generally it does not matter legally if all of the information on the ticket is not correct. The officer, or the prosecutor, can simply make the corrections if necessary. I would suggest that you hire an attorney to represent you on the ticket and avoid taking a conviction. In many cases the prosecutor will agree to a plea bargain under which you may go on "supervision" for a few months and thereby avoid the conviction. Good luck.

Re: Mixed information on my ticket

The ticket can be amended in court to correct the information. However, it may be worthwhile to contest the ticket and use the errors to test the officer's credibility in regards to his testimony as a whole. To do this you certainly should have an attorney.
