Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
in a three month period, my bf received three separate driving on suspended license tickets. the way it worked out is he got one, and a court date. before that court date he got his second. and before that court date he got his third. they pushed all tickets to the third tickets court date..he missed it. He now got a forfeiture of bail letter stating a judgement of 1500 and a warrant. along with the driving on a suspended he got two no insurance tickets, had our truck seized because the plates on the truck were from my van, the truck had never been registered in my name (or his). my daughter was not restrained, and no seat belt i think..my question is simple..what do you think will happen here in Kankakee county where they arent all that busy...
1 Answer from Attorneys
It really depends on his background and what class offense he was charged with. Driving while driver's license is suspended or revoked (DWLSR) is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by any combination of $2,500 in fines and a year in jail. That being said aggravated DWLSR can be sentenced as Class 1 Felony which can be extendable to up to 30 years.
The long and short is that DWLSR or revoked is much more than a ticket and he needs to contact an experienced attorney ASAP. From your question it seems that there is warrant out for his arrest so he could be arrested on the warrant at any point.
