Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

how to plea for traffic violation

I was involved in an car accident and was charged for failing to yeild. I was waiting in the intersection from a two way stop and was hit by a truck causing my car to ignite in flames. I dont know how to plea in court, and i fear that i will be sent to traffic school which i will not be able to attend because i no longer have a car and i will be leaving for college one week after my court date. I will more than likely plea guilty but i dont know if i should ask for supervision or if any other alternatives are possible. If any advice can be given please help.

Re: how to plea for traffic violation

It is important that you do not plead guilty. This plea could be used against you in a civil law suit outside of traffic court. The truck no doubt suffered some damage as well, and a guilty plea in traffic court could have significant impact on you in a different court proceeding. It is important that you have competent advice on how to handle this matter. If you have further questions, please feel free to call me on my cell at 630-965-8280.
