Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
if you plead not guilty and request a bench trial for a traffic ticket and the police officer does not come to court will they dismiss the charges

Usually, if the case is set for trial and the officer does not show up, the prosecutor requests and gets a continuance and a second chance. If the officer repeatedly fails to appear then the case may be dismissed by the judge.
