Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

I've been pulled over for driving with no insurance, and was told to get SR-22 Insurance. I've been on it for about a year. This January I was going to switch insurance companies, so with a poor decision, decided to wait till a day before my insurance ends to switch. Only problem was that I thought my insurance ended on the 28th...I was wrong, It ended on the 25th. I was pulled over on the 26th and they said my license has been suspended. I had no clue why, so I asked the officer once I was at the station. He said, "Your license was suspended...yesterday." Because of the insurance I missed. I am unsure what will happen. I mean this careless mistake will cost me but I don't know what it will. What will I need to do, and what will I be fined?

You may need an attorney.

I appear in traffic court for a low flat fee of $175.

Feel free to contact me to discuss.

First of all, do not handle this yourself and do not just pay any fine. Hire an attorney. Once you have obtained current insurance, and obtained te reinstatement of your license, your attorney should be able to help you avoid convictions for driving while suspended, driving without insurance and whatever else you may be facing in court. Even if you wind up spending several hundred dollars on an attorney, it will be well worth it and you will save a great deal of money in the long run.
