Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

I just got pulled over for failure to yield/reduce speed for an emergency vehicle. The cop car was on the left side of the highway pulled off and I was on the right side heading home. I slowed down and went 35 past the vehicles. The speed limit normally is 55. When I got into town another cop pulled me over and said an officer was on the way to cite me for failure to reduce speed and now I have a court date next month. The officer who cited me said this was a Class A misdemeanor. This is the first offence of any kind I have ever had in my life. What should I do? Should I try to fight it or just accept the charges? If I am charged what would I be looking at for this?

Hire an attorney to negotiate a plea bargain to avoid the conviction. If you go to trial it will be the cop's word against yours. Who do you really think will win that contest?
