Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

I have just recently been pulled over for driving with a suspended licence..My car was not towed but i did get a ticket for DWSL. Under the bond section of the ticket there is a box checked off saying individual bond (full) amount $2009.00..Does this mean that i have to pay that by the court date or what? I also had gotten a suspended licence for 3 tickets within a year..One ticket in another state which i didnt know carried over to illinois. I didnt know my licence was suspended even, because i had never gotten a letter or anything...please help'

The police officer does not set the bond. The sergeant at the station may issue whats called an "I" bond and release you on your signature but if a money bond was set, it would be set by a judge after a hearing. It sounds to me like the police officer may have placed the year 2009 in the bond amount section. I'd have to review the ticket itself to make that determination.

If you were released and are not in custody, then no, you do not have to pay that full bond amount. You do need to hire an attorney to try to get your license reinstated though.
