Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
reckless driving
My son who is 18 received two tickets, one for reckless driving, one for improper lane useage. He was behind a car that had 2 people wearing ski masks popping out of a sunroof shooting paintballs at him. A passenger in his car called the police and reported the license plate of the vehicle, my son then passed the car to try and see who was driving. After he passed, the car rear-ended him and took off. My sons's car was ran onto a railroad track and the car died and the tires were damaged. While trying to push the car off the tracks, a train hit his car, totalling the car. When the police arrived, they ticketed my son with reckless driving and the improper lane useage. The police located the owner of the other vehicle, but the owner claims no knowledge of the incident. My son was trying to turn this car in and he is the one with the tickets. We go to court on December 30, 2005, but I am a single mother and we don't have money for a lawyer. What are our options, we want to plead not guilty to all. He needs his license as he works as a pizza delivery boy. HELP!!

Re: reckless driving
First, you do need the services of a lawyer. This doesn't sound like a reckless driving case to me. Just from reading your letter I know that this is going to get much too complicated for you. Where is this matter pending?? I.e., where do you have to go to court? Hope to hear from you soon; if not, good luck.
