What is the age at which you can rent a car in the state of Illinois?

The legal age for getting driver's license is 16, and in theory, that would allow for car rental, however, the legal age for entering into a binding contract is 18. In either event, one must contact the car rental company to find out their policy, as these are private contracts which can be determined by the parties which enter into them.

To add to the above answer by Attorney Shestokas, the usual policy of most rental companies is 25 years old with no exceptions. There is always an additional insurance premium for drivers under age 25 if they are allowed to drive.
