Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Seizures, Suspensions, and Statues of Limitations

When I tried to renew my license in the early 90s in my

home state (VA) I naively reported seizures because I

did have a couple in my late teens (1988 or so). Got into

an argument with the guy at the DMV, and he

suspended my license until I got a clean bill from a

doctor AND a psychiatrist (!?). I didnt have eitherno

health insurance or money at the time. Ive lived in IL for

12 years and have not had a license all this time

(havent really needed to drive, believe it or nothuge

plus of big city life). I saw a doctor a little later and he

said his best guess was hypoglycemia and he told me

to eat better! Other than thatwhich he wasnt even

sure of--there was nothing wrong with me. I have not

had a blackout or seizure or faint since Reagan was in

office!

What should I do? Is there a statute of limitations?

Apply for a license in IL as if its the first time, or do I

have to go back to VA to straighten out the mess

somehow? And what was that psychiatrist thing

about? Please help, I really want to drive again

someday! (For what its worth, my record was

spotless.)
