Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
Speeding Ticket in another state
I recently found a speeding ticket I
received from another state among
some old belongings. I never paid
the ticket! What is the fine and how
much trouble am I in for this
occuring? It has been a number of
years and I never receive any
notification from that state.

It is possible that your license in Illinois has been suspended for not paying that ticket. Driving on a suspended license is a serious matter for which you can go to jail. For more information on suspended license issues please visit http://www.shestokas.com/Suspended_License.html .
To find out the status of your license there is a link to the Illinois Secretary of State on our website at http://www.shestokas.com/Links.html . Look for the link to the SOS. Finally, you can call the courthouse in the county where you received the ticket to find out what to do to clear it up. If it is a minor ticket, it may simply require sending in the fine. Driving While License Suspended (DWLS) is a serious offense. This could happen if you failed to pay or show up in the "other state". Additionally, a warrant could be out for your arrest. If you need professional help to clear this up, feel free to call. Good Luck!
