Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Statue of Limitations-Traffic

I was in a accident driving a city bus and ticketed for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, I did not see her, but unfortunatly she did not survive her injuries. It has been 6 months since the accident and the DA will not give us a offer to plead guilty to the above ticket issued. Can I be charged with something else and how long does the DA have to charge me?

Re: Statue of Limitations-Traffic

You really should speak directly with an attorney. There would be no statute of limitations if they wanted to bring homicide charges for example. On your next court appearance, you can demand a trial. This will force the prosecutor to prosecute the case or dismiss it. You should retain an attorney if you have not already done so because there may also be civil implications.
