Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

yes i was stoped on feb 23 2010 for driving on suspended plates...fist of all the car was not mine and i didnt know they were suspended... went to court on march 31st 2010 got fined 1155.00.. went back to court on july 23rd all my paper work from the court says no insurance is what my charge is...my ticket says driving on suspened plates... and i have untill sept 1st to pay this...i am on fixed income of 690.00 a month...i told that to the judge and explained to him that i had rent utlites to pay and he said they shouldnt matter there not court ordered...my first thing is pay what is court ordered...sorry but i dont feel like living in the street.. but it looks like i have no choice...it has to be paid by sept 1st of 2010 or i go to jail for contempt untill its paid....

Sounds to me like you needed an attorney. It may not be too late for you to hire one to talk with the state's attorney and the judge and get your situation straightned out. Good luck.,
