Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
Suspended liscence due to Lawsuit
I was in a car accident on september 22, 2001 (I was 17). I was recently sued for damaged of this accident (around 25,000 dollars+costs), and was never notified of a court date, or of the lawsuit it self until just last week, after the judgment was passed. I am a college student, I work a full time job and can barely afford living as it is, unless I can pay payments of 100 dollars a month, I would not be able to do this. I have two questions 1. What is the quickest solution to this problem? 2. How can I be sued for something that happened when I was a minor?

Re: Suspended liscence due to Lawsuit
1. You can be sued for negligence when you drove at 17. 2. Whether you were properly served, and thus made a party to a lawsuit, is a fact question. 3. It would appear that you might be judgement proof. 4. If not, you might consider filing a bankruptcy petition. Good Luck
