Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

ticket following supervised driving

my 18 y.o. son had a speeding ticket 1/03 and received supervision following driving school (Kane Co). He had 2nd speeding ticket/expired registration in Woodford Co. 2/04 with court 3/11/04 and was given supervision of UNKNOWN duration. He had an acccident 6/14/04 with ticket for illegal lane use (swerved to avoid hitting car in front and was struck by car in next lane) and now has to decide whether to pay ticket/plead guilty or go to court. What could happen? Should he try for not guilty? Other driver did not have valid ins and also has court date. Thanks for help-we need reply quickly as he needs to send in fee/decision in 10 days!

Re: ticket following supervised driving

Your son should not be unrepresented in this matter, since a conviction on this matter could violate his prior supervision. If this happens, he will lose his driving privileges. A driver under the age of 21 who gets two convictions within a 24 month period has his license suspended by the Secretary of State. You should get a lawyer immediately, since there are some very technical aspects to licensing law that are involved in this situation.
