Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
Traffic Ticket
I just received a bill in the mail from Kane county court house for a expired registration in the amt of $110 with a note saying if I don't pay by Aug4th, it will continue to incure cost of $50/mon. The bill was from 08/03/01. I called and they told me to contest and go to the judge which will cost me an additional $40 to file paperwork and no one can help me except the judge. Can they do this after 7 years of nothing? I don't ever remember having an expired registration.

I'll bet dollars to donuts that you were convicted of having an expired registration 7 years ago, and you conveniently forgot to pay the fine. Good Luck!
