Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Traffic Ticket

I received a ticket. Going 45 in a 20 mile an hour. Should I go to court? Would I be able to go to traffic court? If I plead guilty and pay the ticket, will it affect my record. I have a clean driving record.

Yes, a conviction on this charge would definitely go on your record. Your insurance company would find out about it the next time they had any reason to check your record and they woould probably raise your rates. I would certainly hire an attorney to represent me if I were you. Whether you will be allowed to go to driving school or receive "supervision" so as to avoid the conviction will depend in large part of the specific state's attorney and the specific judge who are assigned to the case. You should definitely go to traffic court and

bring a lawyer with you. Generally an arrange-ment can be worked out where you can receive supervision in exchange for a plea of guilty and it will not show up on your record. You should only attempt to do this with a lawyer. Other-wise, it could backfire and could show up on your driving record. Will be happy to answer any additional questions you may have.
