Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

TrafficTicket

My son recently got a traffic ticket ''for going too fast for conditions'' while in an accident. How can he plead in court in order for this not to be on his record, so insurance premiums aren't affected.

Re: TrafficTicket

Your son's initial plea should certainly be "not guilty". If he enters a plea of guilty, it may be used against him if a civil suit is filed by anyone injured or suffering property damage from the accident. Assuming that there is adequate insurance coverage, and all claims either have been or will be paid by your insurance company, then it is possible in most Illinois counties to avoid the conviction on the traffic charge by making a plea bargain with the State's Attorney.

In many courts your son would be placed on "supervision" for a period of several months during which time he could not get any other tickets. He would also have to pay an increased fine and court costs. In the long run of course he would save money, If I may be of any assistance, you may call me for a free telephone consultation at 314-727-2822. I have handled many similar cases throughout the state of Illinois.
