Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
underage possession
My son is a senior in high school. During a vehicle search on school property a water bottle was found in the back floorboard of his parked car with a small amount of vodka. He denied knowing that it was alcohol instead of water. Officers performed a breathilyzer test on him immediately and he blew a O.O. He still received a $375 ticket for possession. According to the Illinois rules that I read on-line, he could lose his license for 1 year. Would you recommend having a bench trial rather than pleading guilty and paying the fine?

Re: underage possession
If he were to plead guilty, make sure that he gets a sentence of superversion. That is not a conviction, and your son will not lose his license. The best thing to do is hire an experienced criminal defense attorney.
