uninsured motorist

a few days ago i sold my car to my daughters best friend for $2500. She couldnt afford the whole amount all at once so she put 1000 down and will be making monthly payments to me until its paid off...i am holding title until then.On the day i sold her the car,she didnt have money to get plates and registration until her next week paycheck.Since she is my daughters friend i allowed her to drivr the car home with my plates and regitration but informed her i was going to cancel the insurance so she would need to insure the car herself.She promised not to drive the car until she had money to change the plates and whatever else.i had the insurance cancelled.Well,tonight she drove the car,DRUNK,hit and ran someone,got pulled over for hit and run,dui and no insurance.Car was impounded with my plates.Police say i culd possibly be responsible and that its a felony for me to have sold my car with my plates on it..How would i have known this.I am scared to death. She caused a lot of damage,no injuries.Car she hit was parked.What will or could happen to me?
