Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois
my wife got pulled over for expired tags. we have insurance but they towed the car so when we went to the pound to pay for the tow they told us that we had to go to the police station to pay them 200$ why is it that we are paying the police station

I know of no municipality or police authority today that tows cars solely because tags have expired. This may be a scam. Get an attorney. Police do not collect fines until after a court hearing.
