Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

yellow light

My wife was driving west and entered the intersection as the light was yellow and was ticketed by a cop who was at the intersection on the north side of the street.

The policeman obviously could not see the east facing yellow light and we think he just made a guess as to the light being red even though he couldn't tell for sure.

One last question, if you enter a yellow light that turns red as you are in the intersection is that a traffic violation.

Thanks

Re: yellow light

You are not supposed to enter an intersection on a yellow light. It is a warning that you must stop prior to the light turning red. It seems like no one follows that law, but that doesn't make it right. Your wife will be found guilty.
