Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

2000 Property Tax Responsibility

I'm to inherit my mothers home (testate) which is still in probate. Am I responsible for her property taxes for the first half of 2000 while she was still alive? There are funds available, but the executor has chosen not to pay the first half.

Re: 2000 Property Tax Responsibility

The executor should pay, from estate funds, the taxes attributable to the house while your mother was alive. The executor may also owe the taxes attributable to any time from the death of your mother until you received possession of the house.
