Does an adult have a legal responsibility to financially care foR an ailing parent?

As a general rule No. However, each case would be decided on its own merits and there have been cases where the neglect of an elderly parent has been criminally prosecuted. You should probably consult with a lawyer in your own area to determine what your legal responsibilities and obligations are.
