He never married and there are no children but he has items in a pawn shop in vegas what I want to know is how do I get an affadavit? Do I get one in chicago or do I have to get it in Vegas? And can I get a notary one in stead of one from the court?

Re: affidavit

An affidavit is just a sworn, written statement. You can use a form or you can just type up the information and sign it before a notary. Just make sure it's got all the necessary information in it, and that you state that you are swearing under oath that the information is true (something to that affect). You might want to work off a form just so that you are sure to include the necessary information. And yes, you can do this in Chicago and have it notarized in Chicago.
