Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Back taxes of deceased

My husband's stepfather passed away. His wife is in a nursing home with no property or assets to speak of, (in process of filing for Public Aid). My husband is power of attorney for his mother. Will we be held responsible for their back IRS taxes?

No. Acting as agent under a POA does not render the agent liable for the principal's debts.
