Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

I an Canadian and my Will was created in Toronto, Ontario. My question is -"Is an Ontario Will probated in Illinois?

That depends. Where is your property? If your property is in Canada, your Will will be probated in Canada, under Canadian law. If you have property in Illinois (e.g. bank accounts, real estate), your Will would be SUBMITTED for probate in Illinois.

If you own significant property in Illinois, I strongly recommend that you consult with an Illinois attorney to determine if your Will meets all criteria to SUCCESSFULLY BE probated in Illinois, and address other estate planning issues that may not be relevant in Canada but should be considered in Illinois.
