Closing an Estate
How do you close an estate? I have a attorney that is not doing what he said he would do. And is it possible to close it myself?

Re: Closing an Estate
You may be able to close it but it will depend on the kind of Estate that exists. If it is Independent Administration it might work. If it is Supervised Administration it will be harder. For Independent Administration you will need 3 forms 1. The Final Report Of the Representative. 2. A receipt from all beneficiaries. 3 An order closing the estate. In Cook County all three forms can be found on the Clerk's website. Other counties may have a different procedure. Once you have the forms completed you will need to schedule a court date with the judge that has been assigned the case. You will probably have to go see the judge's clerk to schedule the hearing. If its supervised you need do all the above and also prepare at least a final accounting. Good Luck.
