Re: Contested

Will Contest has to be commenced within 6 months after admission of the Will to probate. Once initiated, there is no time limit on how long it might take, depends on extent of discovery and other issues.

Can a lawyer withhold information? Whose lawyer? Withhold from what?

Re: Contested

Although someone contesting the will has 6 months to file the contest, the length of the contest itself depends on the case. As long as it takes for the contest to go through the legal system.

A lawyer may withhold information under certain circumstances, under certain privilidges provided for (attorney work product, attorney-Client, etc). But information that the attorney knows to be relavant and properly discoverable material USUALLY needs to be turned over if asked for by the other side. There are lots of special situations however.
