can a court appointed adminisator in IL keep family out of family home and other properties

An administrator has a duty to keep the assets of the estate safe and well-maintained. This would include taking control of any real estate owned by the estate prior to distribution to the appropriate beneficiaries.

With that said, if you or others have rights to the home, or its contents, then you will either have to work with the administrator, or if he is not agreeable, then to file an action to claim your property through the probate court.
