Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois
My daughter is 11, her father (i was never married to) who is single died and she is the only minor dependant. Would any insurance policies that are out there be automatically flagged to go to her if no other beneficiary is listed? I plan to file for social security but I don't know if he had any insurance policies through work or otherwise.

Is she her father's *only* child?
If no beneficiary is listed on the insurance, then it would be payable to his estate. His estate would pass pursuant to the terms of his will, or if he had none, then to his legal heirs. If he is unmarried, his legal heirs are his children, both minor and adult. Someone will probably need to be appointed to administer his estate.
I recommend that you contact an attorney to sort through the details of administering the estate.
