Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Death of Mother leaves estate paying rental lease for 1 year

My mother passed away 4 months after renting an apartment. The lease has 8 months to go, and they stated that my mother's estate will be responsible for that rent unless they find someone else to rent it. Is this true, and what is to stop him from not running adds in paper or trying to find someone, and leaving the apartment empty for the next 8 months? He already has 4 vacant apartments in an 8 unit rental.

The estate is responsible and must pay unless you can find another tenant. The liklihood of getting a tenant is remote. You won't be able to control whose apartment is filled first, unless you get the tenant.

But your should check the lease to be sure there is no death clause in the lease.
