Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Educational Trust Fund

My grandparents started a trust fund for me in 1986. I was told once I started college I would receive some money from the trust to pay for school instead of taking out student loans. I started college in 2001 and haven't seen any of the money because I believe they are withholding it for personal issues. I have doubts on how it is being handled. I have been refused to see legal documents containing the trust information and I believe that legally I am the owner under the Uniform Transfer to Minor Act. I want to know how I can get the legal documents of the trust, how to get legal access to the trust or name new trustees. All I want to do with the money is to pay back my student loans and use the rest to set myself up in order to move to get a better job.

Re: Educational Trust Fund

Without knowing about what kind of trust your grandparents were talking about( or if, in fact, there was an actual "trust" in the first place), it is impossible to give you any legal direction.

You may want to ask your grandparents for more information about how the money is being held, and under what conditions you will have access to it.
