if my entire family is about to receive an inheritance, do i receive my deceased father's portion of the inheritance?

Maybe, Maybe not. It depends on whether there was a Will or not and how any accounts belonging to your grandparent were set up. It also depends on whether there are other survivors and who they are in relation to you and your deceased father. You need to talk to the executor/administrator of the Estate or to a lawyer.
