Estate proceedings

The executor filed (will) in probate court then hired a probate attorney to open estate to begin estate procedings.

The attorney has collected retainer fees and has not started any procedures. Questions are as follows: would it take 6 mons to begin process? Also should executor received any documents from attorney after being retained i have not received anything? What is the actual process after the opening of estate? Please help!!!

You are entitled to the estate being handled in a more prompt and responsible manner. While estates can take many months, and even years, to administer, you should receive reports from the attorney you select to represent you in the estate providing the status of the case.

The attorney is entitled to reasonable compensation for his services.

Administering an estate can take some time. It depends on the size of the estate and the number of claimants to the estate.
