What if the specified executor of the estate only has a copy of the original will in her possession and has no idea where the original is located?

First, make a diligent search for the original. If it can't be found, go ahead and try to file the copy. If you need to actually probate the Will, generally a copy will not be admitted to probate, but there are exceptions in certain situations. Contact a probate attorney.
