Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois
Executor isn't executing
My Aunt died in Nov. Her friend is the executor of her Trust. She decided o have their financial advisor (FA) 'read' the trust, saying it would save money on a lawyer. Family & I were ''allowed as favor'' (exact words) to see 3 pages of Trust to ''prove'' only I was left some money. The FA was beyond rude to my eldery parents. We were told we were seeing the pages concerning 'us' & the rest was not biz; they really didn't have to eve have shown us the 3. I am to get money now & a balance of money when this Friend passes. The FA said it could be a year before I got what was left to me now, since all bills have to come in and be paid out of estate first. I called Friend this week to ask what's going on & she tried to tell me I'm only getting money when she dies. She is executor and has no idea what the Trust says or what to do. I insisted this was wrong and I was right, so Friend called FA, and was told they are having a meeting this week about my Aunt's taxes now, and they will get back to Friend. Meanwhile it has been 7 months. Dad asked to see Trust/will & FA snapped no, if he wants to get a lawyer, he could maybe get the Will, and good luck. They don't have to tell us a thing & I'm to sit and wait. Does this FA have these rights?

Re: Executor isn't executing
Of course not. You need an attorney. Trying to "save money" is going to cost you a lot of problems.
