How can I find out if my father\'s will is being executed properly by my sister, the executor? (She is not above board often.)

If the Will is being probated by an Illinois Court, your sister will ultimately be obligated to provide you with a document that describes all of your father's assets as of his date of death, referred to in Illinois as an "Inventory," and an "Accounting" of all receipts, disbursements and distributions of his Estate from his date of death until the Estate is closed. You can usually require an Executor to produce an Inventory after the Estate has been open for 60 days.

In Illinois, you can also require that the your sister's administration be "Supervised." This strips your sister of certain independent powers and requires her to obtain Court approval to address certain estate matters.

In some situations, a phone call from an attorney can also produce helpful results while keeping fees at a minimum. Feel free to call me if you'd like to discuss this further. I will not charge for a brief phone call regarding this.
