Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois
Where to find a legal copy of a persons will?
I understand that a persons will is public record. Where in Illinois would a person go to find a copy of another persons will. How would you go about getting a copy of the will or what can be done without having to travel from Indiana to Illinois?

A will is supposed to be filed by the person holding it within 30 days after death in the county where the decedent lived. The clerk of the court (probate division) in that county should be able to provide you a copy. I would assume they will mail it to you for a nominal charge. For example, info on how to obtain Cook County info is at: http://www.cookcountyclerkofcourt.org/General_Info/Divisions/Probate/probate.htm
