Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois
My grandmother died and left her house to my mother and uncle (my grandmother's only two children). My uncle wanted nothing to do with it so sign over his part of the house (including all belongings in the house) to my mother. My mother then died a couple years ago with no will and the house is in her name only. My father is taking care of the house even though it is not in his name. What happens to the house (and it's belongings) should my father die without the house not being in his name? Thank you.

Advice: since the house is owned by the estate of your mother, petition the local probate court for administration of your mother's estate, including the disposition of the house. Discuss the matter with your attorney. Until the property is transferred to another party, it is still part of your mother's estate.
