Can a hand written or typed letter that is notarized and witnessed by two people be a legal codicil to a will in Illinois? If not, what do i need to do to create one?

Meeting the formal requirements for executing a valid will or codicil should not be attempted without a lawyer. Two witnesses are essential but not sufficient.

In addition, an attorney may be able to help you by recommending something other than a will. There are many ways to transfer wealth at death. Don't try this at home.
