Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Who inherits

My cousin died Nov 3rd and I understand he left a certain amount to be devided among his cousins which were the only relatives he had left. My question is would 3rd cousins get as much as first cousins. Or would that be done according to his attorney.

Re: Who inherits

Unless someone has a Will that says otherwise, distribution of an estate goes in accordance with Illinois law.

If there was no will, then if there were no surviving parents, children, spouse, or siblings, first cousins would receive everything first. If there were no first cousins, then everything would go to second cousins, etc.
