joint checking accounts

I am a joint owner with my uncle on his checking account. When he dies, does the money go to me or to his estate?

Generally speaking, to you, but there are exceptions and estates sometimes do argue, and occasionally prevail, that the decedent didn't intent to make a gift to the joint tenant.

There is a presumption that it is yours, however, it is possible for this presumption to be overcome if somebody challenges it.
