Joint property and mortgages

My husband and his sister inheritated a home but cannot sell in until their stepmother passes away. can my husband get a mortgage on his share of the home?

I would imagine, based on your question, that your husband and his sister own the property, and the step mother has a life estate in the property.

If this is the case, most mortgage lenders would require your husband, his sister, and the step mother to sign the mortgage.
