I agree with Jay. I have seen some of the end results of wills you can buy online, with a software package, or at the office store. I have seen some disasters result from these approaches as well. If not done correctly, it can be wholly invalid, or may not distribute your assets the way you desire. Most lawyers do not charge much to do simple wills, but believe me it is worthwhile. I like to use the analogy of taking your own tonsils out. You can do so, but the results can be messy.

Yes, you can prepare your own will. But I would not suggest that you do so. The questions you ask indicate that you do not know how to do so. And a couple of quick suggestions from me would only put your end product at risk. I suggest you find a lawyer to prepare your document. Don't be penny wise and pound foolish, and do not use one of those "canned wills" off the web either. Again fraught with danger.
