Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Legal guardians of minor grandchildren want to insure acceptable custody of children if we die. Their parents are alive, but never satisfied DCFS to get their children back. We don't believe the children would be well served if they ever did. We petitioned for and were awarded legal guardianship 7 years ago. A trusted relative couple have expressed willingness to care for the children in case we can't. How can we express our desires on this in a way that is likely to be effective?

You can petition the Court for the appointment of a standby Guardian. See 755 ILCS 5/11‑5.3 at http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/ilcs4.asp?DocName=075500050HArt.+XI&ActID=2104&ChapAct=755 ILCS 5/&ChapterID=60&ChapterName=ESTATES&SectionID=63347&SeqStart=12100000&SeqEnd=14300000&ActName=Probate+Act+of+1975.

Feel free to call me if you'd like my help in this. I won't charge for an introductory phone call.
