Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois
Letter of Direction
My parents property is in trust with a bank. They are the beneficiaries. Dad died recently leaving mom as sole beneficiary. When she dies the property then goes to us four kids as joint tenants. We are being encouraged to add one of us to the letter of direction because mom is in the early stages of dementia and my bother who lives with her might cause problems if the property needs to be sold to move her into a assisted living facility. Is it a good idea to have a amendment added to the trust regarding the letter of direction?

Re: Letter of Direction
Your mother's wishes should be clarified and memorialized while she's still lucid (assuming she is). Talk to a probate attorney in your area to effectuate this properly.
